program next week, Nov. 20, will be a good one for invitations to guests.
We had originally tried to schedule author Joe Noah, who wrote “Top
Mustang Ace,” for Nov. 13, the week of Veterans’ Day.
However, he had a presentation in Virginia that day, but he told his friend
Harding Shinn he would be glad to present the program Nov. 20. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>A
native North Carolinian, George Preddy, was the top P-51 Mustang ace of World
War II. He shot down 27 enemy planes, five in one dogfight. The Greensboro
native’s brother, Bill, also was a P-51 fighter pilot. Sadly,
George Preddy was shot down and killed by “friendly” ground fire on
Christmas Day 1944. His brother, Bill, also was shot down and
killed on a combat mission. It promises to be an interesting program.
